Clean
Language

"Clean Language is simple because

people are complex enough"

David Grove

Clean Language gets to the heart of things

I certified as a Clean Language practitioner in 2015. Clean Language as a technique tends to get to the issue deeply and quickly.

Clean Language was developed by late New Zealander David Grove

Clean Language is the foundation to my coaching. It is a set of questions that allow a client's inner world to be maximised. By putting such strong attention on the inner world, change naturally starts to happen.

I like to use Clean Language with Clean Space which is a dynamic, 'shift around the room' style of coaching which internally connects the dots from which new insights and knowledge naturally emerges.

I also use Symbolic Modelling which is a slow, repetitive style of Clean Language which maps out your internal processes and internal landscape in symbolic form. This moves people safely through trauma because of its use of metaphor and symbolism. It opens up 'choice points' in behaviour.

Clean Language originated with New Zealand-born and educated David Grove (opens new window), who drew on his bi-cultural Māori/British roots when designing therapeutic and coaching methods. It has been expanded upon by many practitioners across the world to suit a variety of contexts.

I have spent six years integrating Clean Language with my previous photography practice to supercharge photovoice as a coaching technique.

Other tools you can choose to use in a session with me include:

Menstruality Matters  |  Inner Leadership Team

Enneagram  |  Practical Spirituality

"Natalie listens acutely...

And allows time to think. She is direct and through feeding back what I said, she made me think more. She recognises when you want to explore and experiment, and checked that I was happy to explore a Clean Language process which was new to me: Symbolic Modelling. That reminded me about the power of imagery and metaphor.

Natalie is there for you. I am doing a stock take, knowing I can make better use of the resources I have. I haven’t made major changes yet, but I am processing them now, having the courage to do so. Thank you." Senior HR Professional
